Fair Access to Missouri Unemployment Benefits

A Message from the Missouri Commission on Human Rights

Dear friends of the Missouri Commission on Human Rights (MCHR):

Unemployment insurance is a vital reemployment program for Missouri workers who become unemployed due to no fault of their own. MCHR and the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations’ Division of Employment Security (DES) are committed to ensuring equal opportunity in Missouri’s unemployment insurance program.

MCHR and DES recognize equal opportunity begins with equitable access. A common barrier to equitable access is often a lack of knowledge of available resources and/or insufficient information regarding how to properly access critical programs and services like the unemployment insurance program.

As shared with you in September, MCHR and DES have joined forces to combat this barrier and improve outreach and education for Missouri’s unemployment insurance program. Through this partnership, we are pleased to provide you our second in a series of four emails sharing information intended to improve access to Missouri’s unemployment benefits program:

These resources expand on the information previously provided:

Our goal is to remove barriers and increase awareness of and access to unemployment insurance benefits in Missouri, and we encourage you to share and widely distribute this information in your workplace and community.

For more information on the services and benefits provided by DES, please visit UInteract, their user friendly, self-service system, at uinteract.labor.mo.gov. Individuals may also call 800-320-2519. Additionally, auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities: TDD/TTY: 800-735-2966; Relay Missouri: 711.

Thank you, as always, for doing your part to advance equal opportunity in Missouri!
