Hello, Corrections team!

The State of Missouri is committed to protecting your health and safety during these uncertain times. This month, the State of Missouri will begin sentinel, or randomized, testing for cases of COVID-19 within the Missouri workforce. This testing is for state employees based in office settings and does not include facilities and institutions where testing has already been ongoing for some time. This voluntary testing will allow the state as an employer to get a clearer understanding of COVID-19 in our workforce. This way, we can continue to help keep our employees and their loved ones safe.

This testing will include a random sample of work locations. All team members at the selected work locations can sign up for testing on a volunteer basis. If your work location is randomly selected, you will receive an email through your work email address with additional information. Participation is NOT mandatory; you can opt in if your work location is selected.

A few things to note if you choose to participate in testing:

  • The sample collection is a simple mid-nasal swab that you will do yourself.
  • The test collection swab is inserted approximately two centimeters into the nostrils (e.g. 0.787 of an inch or about the length of a peanut).
  • You will be provided with a specific location and time frame in which to go collect your sample.
  • The test is free, and your insurance will not be charged.
  • Your agency will accommodate your involvement, including allowing time off without the use of personal leave.
  • You will be required to provide your name, agency name and phone number.
  • In the event that you test positive, your test results will be shared with your local public health authority.
  • Every worksite has a site coordinator who will schedule and observe testing.
  • If you choose to be tested, you will be required to sign the Missouri Department of Corrections Diagnostic Testing Consent and Release Form.

Please contact your site coordinator for more information.

Thank you.
