Bills Heard This Week
On February 4, the Senate Economic and Workforce Development Committee held a public hearing on SB 1279. Sponsored by Sen. Mary Elizabeth Coleman (R-22), SB 1279 modifies an income tax deduction for contributions to 529 savings accounts. A representative from the Missouri Chamber of Commerce testified in favor, and there was no opposition.
Also on February 4, the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee held executive session on HB 2776. Sponsored by Rep. Willard Haley (R-58), HB 2776 establishes provisions relating to the granting of associate teacher certificates. It was voted do pass by a vote of 12 – 5, with one member voting present.
