Tracy Henke Confirmed
Tracy Henke’s appointment to the Missouri State Workforce Development Board went before the Senate Gubernatorial Appointments Committee on Wednesday, February 5. She was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday, February 6.
Henke has had an illustrious career marked by strategic leadership, operational excellence, and public service. She held senior federal government roles during a pivotal period in our national security and spent years in the U.S. Senate shaping and driving policy for Missouri and the nation. She led and expanded the reach of a large nonprofit nationally and spent time providing strategic advice to companies throughout the country. While residing in the Washington, D.C. metro most of her career, her love for Missouri remained steadfast. As the COO/Deputy Executive Director for the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Center St. Louis (AMICSTL), Henke brings her passion and wealth of experience back home to foster collaboration, drive innovation, create opportunities, and contribute to economic development in the St. Louis metro area and the state.

On February 4, the Senate Committee on Education, chaired by Sen. Rick Brattin (R-31), heard SB 150 and SB 55. Sponsored by Sen. Jill Carter (R-32), SB 150 establishes the Career-Tech Certificate Program Fund to reimburse certain students’ tuition, books, and fees to certain postsecondary training programs and programs of study. Sponsored by Mary Elizabeth Coleman (R-22), SB 55 prohibits elementary and secondary schools and institutions of postsecondary education from being members of athletic organizations that allow students to use performance enhancing drugs.
On Wednesday, February 5, the House Committee on Higher Education and Workforce Development, chaired by Rep. Chris Brown (R-16), heard HB 331 and HB 606. Sponsored by Rep. Ann Kelley (R-127), HB 331 establishes the Career-Tech Certificate Program Fund to reimburse certain students’ tuition, books, and fees to certain postsecondary training programs and programs of study. Sponsored by Rep. Willard Haley (R-58), HB 606 modifies provisions relating to the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD). Leah Strid, Director of External Relations for MDHEWD, testified in support of this bill.
