New Staff

The P20W team welcomed two new members in recent months.

Pictured from left to right are:

  • Jeremy Kintzel, Director, P20W Research
  • Brittany Hawk, Senior Program Specialist
  • Julie Woods, Senior Data Specialist

The P20W team, housed within the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, is dedicated to working with all our partners to link and find insights in P20W data.

While the P20W team is tasked with coordinating the effort, P20W includes all our partners and stakeholders within and outside state government.

P20W is a collaborative effort with all our partner agencies, stakeholders and researchers. Brittany helps us manage all the communication and coordination with our partners and manages projects as new data are integrated and research requests are approved.

Julie works closely with the state Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) and partner agency staff to architect, organize and maintain P20W data.

What Have We Been Working On?

  • Working with a contractor and ITSD to fully document our current database so there's a well-defined foundation for additional data integration and new applications.
  • Collaborating with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to successfully connect de-identified high school graduate records to postsecondary and workforce outcomes.
  • Formalizing project management support with ITSD and will work with our partners in the coming months toward additional data integration.
  • Developing policies and procedures for responsible data access and external research requests for the Data Governance Committee and partner agencies to review and finalize them.
  • Analyzing and validating available data, with a special focus on postsecondary-to-workforce outcomes in early childhood education and nursing.
  • Creating a P20W web presence to share updates and other findings.

What is P20W?

Missouri is working to link data from preschool / early childhood through K-12 education and all avenues of postsecondary education and training (“Grade 20”) into the workforce.

Similar to efforts in many other states, we will be able to use de-identified data in ways that center privacy and confidentiality to better understand how people succeed in their education-to-workforce journey and what programs and policies helped them along the way.

Social and human services data can also be linked to help understand what programs helped residents succeed. The public will also have new tools to make informed decisions about education and training pathways and career choices.
