Senate Appropriations Committee Completes Markup
This week, the Senate Appropriations Committee, chaired by Sen. Lincoln Hough (R-Springfield), completed markup for HBs 2002-2013, 2015, and 2017-2020. The committee voted the senate committee substitutes for the bills do pass on Wednesday. Next, the Senate will consider the bills during floor debate. The constitutional deadline for the legislature to pass the appropriation bills is Friday, May 10.

- On Tuesday, the Senate Select Committee on Empowering Missouri Parents and Children, chaired by Sen. Curtis Trent (R-Republic), heard SB 1125. Sponsored by Sen. Ben Brown (R-Washington), SB 1125 prohibits public institutions of postsecondary education from requiring the submission of diversity, equity, and inclusion statements.
- On Wednesday, the House Higher Education Committee, chaired by Rep. Brenda Shields (R-St. Joseph), heard HB 2673. Sponsored by Rep. Melanie Stinnett (R-Springfield), HB 2673 modifies provisions relating to the authority to confer degrees at public institutions of higher education.
