Bills Relating to Higher Education or Workforce Development Heard This Week
On February 27, the House Special Committee on Tax Reform, chaired by Rep. Ben Baker (R-Neosho), voted HB 1712 do pass. Sponsored by Rep. Adam Schnelting (R-St. Charles), HB 1712 allows Missouri National Guard member educational assistance grants to be available for tuition at out-of-state educational institutions.
HCS for HB 2310 was voted do pass by the House General Laws Committee, chaired by Rep. Alex Riley (R-Springfield). HB 2310, sponsored by Rep. Cameron Parker (R- Campbell), modifies the “Higher Education Core Curriculum Transfer Act.”
On February 28, the House Workforce and Infrastructure Development Committee, chaired by Rep. Louis Riggs (R-Hannibal), heard HB 2650. Sponsored by Rep. Willard Haley (R- Eldon), HB 2650 modifies provisions relating to the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development.
The House Higher Education Committee, chaired by Rep. Brenda Shields (R- St. Joseph), heard HCR 50. Sponsored by Rep. Cody Smith (R-Carthage), HCR 50 approves the statewide mission designation expansion for Missouri Southern State University.
