Bills Relating to Higher Education or Workforce Development Heard This Week
The House Special Committee on Government Accountability, chaired by Rep. Doug Richey (R-Excelsior Springs), voted HB 1518 do pass on February 12. Sponsored by Rep. Brad Hudson (R-Cape Fair), HB 1518 prohibits public institutions of higher learning from discriminating against a religious student association or denying a religious student association any benefit available to any other student association.
The Senate Select Committee on Empowering Missouri Parents and Children, chaired by Sen. Curtis Trent (R-Republic), heard SB 1075, sponsored by Sen. Andrew Koenig (R-Manchester). The bill, like HB 2310, modifies provisions of the Higher Education Core Curriculum Transfer Act.
On February 13, the House General Laws Committee, chaired by Rep. Alex Riley (R-Springfield), heard HB 2567. Sponsored by Rep. Ben Baker (R- Neosho), HB 2567 creates provisions relating to health care.
