Bills Relating to Higher Education or Workforce Development Heard This Week
On January 30, The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) presented the department’s budget request to the House Budget Committee, chaired by Rep. Cody Smith (R-Carthage).
On January 31, the House Higher Education Committee, chaired by Rep. Brenda Shields (R-St. Joseph), heard HB 1533 and HB 2326.
- HB 1533, sponsored by Rep. Brenda Shields (R-St. Joseph), modifies provisions relating to master's social work degree programs.
- HB 2326, sponsored by Rep. Brenda Shields (R-St. Joseph), modifies provisions governing certain postsecondary education financial assistance awards.
Also on January 31, the House Emerging Issues Committee, chaired by Rep. Bill Hardwick (R-Dixon), heard HB 2499. Sponsored by Rep. Jeff Farnan (R- Stanberry), HB 2499 modifies provisions governing eligibility for the A+ scholarship program.
On February 1, MDHEWD presented the department’s budget request to the Senate Appropriations Committee, chaired by Sen. Lincoln Hough (R-Springfield).
