Fish Printing

The Artful Brag

The Japanese traditional art called gyotaku began as a way for fisherman to record fish they caught. They would apply sumi ink to one side of the fish, cover it with rice paper and rub to create an exact image of the fish.

Today we can easily snap a picture of our big (or not so big) fish, but the art of making a fish print is a more artistic way to remember that big catch or just a great day fishing with family or friends.

Join us Saturday for one of three sessions of Nature Art: The Fashion of Fish and learn the techniques needed to make a fish print and then apply that knowledge using fish models and create a one-of-a-kind t-shirt to take home with you. We will provide t-shirts or you can bring your own.

The weather is looking fabulous this weekend. Get Outside! Want a fun challenge? Check out our Discover Nature Collector Stickers. Complete challenges and submit your results either online or in person to receive your collector sticker.

Fish printing can be as simple or as elegant as the artist, but is fun for all.
