Many female turtles are looking for somewhere on land to lay their eggs right now. Turtles typically lay their eggs in well-drained, sandy, or loose soil during late spring or early summer. Young turtles emerge in the fall or overwinter in eggs, hatching in the spring. Learn more about Missouri turtles by visiting https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/search/turtle.
