Open House Meeting Follow-Up & Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the annual SSTS Open House Meeting! It was wonderful to see so many of you as we discussed updates and reminders for the upcoming season.
The Planning and Zoning Department, Onsite Wastewater Division, aims to improve the permitting and inspection process to reduce wait times and maintain better records. As 2026 may be another busy season, the department looks forward to collaborating with private SSTS professionals to reduce project delays and meet property owners' needs.
Recap and key points:
- All permit applications are being sent to a common queue in our permitting program. Permits will be processed on a "first in, first out" basis. A staff member will be available to review a completed application once it is entered into the permitting program.
-
There are new septic fees for 2026. Incorrect payments can delay permitting. Please be aware of the 2026 Permit Fees
- Our staff will work with SSTS professionals to ensure that applications are complete and that any necessary corrections are made promptly. All applications must be signed, and all designs, as-builts, and compliance inspection forms must include a signed, certified statement.
- Requests for final (construction) inspections must be made via email to oswinfo@StLouisCo untyMN.gov at least 48 hours (2 business days) prior to the inspection date.
- The new inspector map is available on our website, SSTS Inspector Area Map.pdf

- Compliance inspection reports must be submitted to both the county and the property owner within 15 days of completing the inspection.
- As-builts must be submitted to the department within 30 days of completion.
- Abandonment Reporting Forms must be submitted to the department within 30 days of the system abandonment.
