Contractor Open House Meeting! April 13th, 2023

Greetings! The On-Site Wastewater Division hopes 2023 has been treating you all well!
To improve the consistency and overall quality of our septic program, the On-Site Wastewater Division (OSW) will be hosting a public meeting to discuss reoccurring issues and receive input from septic professionals. On-Site Wastewater intends on holding this meeting in person but will also provide remote access to the meeting via Microsoft Teams. Last year the Division hosted two separate meetings, but due to feedback provided, it has been decided to condense these meetings into one for 2023. Below you will find a handful of topics the Division plans to discuss, along with a survey link to grasp tentative attendance. If there are any topics regarding the program you would like to be discussed further as a group, please additionally note those in the survey.

  • New System vs. Replacement System clarification on applications
  • Ordinance 61 updates and technical requirement changes
  • Design Requirements
  • Final Inspection Expectations

Please RSVP through the survey link below by April 5, 2023. The virtual meeting link can be found within the survey and on the On-Site Wastewater webpage. We look forward to seeing you there! RSVP SURVEY LINK: HERE

Reminder to Submit Outstanding Paperwork and New Cancellation Policy

With spring just around the corner, this is a friendly reminder to submit all outstanding paperwork from the 2022 season as soon as possible. This includes but is not limited to as-builts, abandonments, and pressure tests. Currently, there are several permits that are awaiting these documents that the Division would like to get cleaned up and taken care of prior to the season kick-off.

Additionally, moving forward, if an application is returned for corrections, and the Division does not receive the updated documentation requested within 60 days, a refund will be issued, and the permit will be canceled. If the application can be corrected in a timely manner after the cancellation, then the applicant may reapply. If your application has been returned for corrections, and you have any questions or concerns, the OSW team is more than happy to assist you and provide any clarification needed. This new business practice aims to ensure efficiency in administering permit issuances.

Meet Our New Staff, Dylan and Teresa!

Meet our new team members! Please join us in welcoming, Teresa Harvey and Dylan Dressel, who recently joined the On-Site Wastewater Division. We greatly look forward to having them on our team and watching them grow in their new roles. We’ve asked them to provide a brief message about themselves to share with the GovDelivery readers:

Teresa: "Do you need to call or visit the St. Louis County On-Site Wastewater office in Virginia? Chances are your first point of contact will be me, Teresa Harvey, the new Information Specialist II located in the Government Services Center in Virginia. I started in September of 2022, so I will be heading into my first "busy" season with the OSW department this spring. My overall goal is simple: to provide the best customer service I possibly can.

I am a lifelong Iron Ranger residing in Fayal Township with my husband. I enjoy fishing (but don't ask me where…), being out on the lake, gardening and golfing (and have done them all in the snow and well as the sun!). Winter days will find me reading, puzzling, baking, or wishing for spring. However, all these pastimes are tossed aside if the grandkids are available for some fun! I am excited to be a part of the awesome OSW team and I look forward to all the challenges (and fun) the position will bring!”

Dylan: “My name is Dylan Dressel, I am 24 years old and am employed by St. Louis County as an Environmental Specialist. Towards the end of last year, I bought a house in Duluth with my lovely girlfriend/partner in crime. We have one black cat named Binx and one white Siberian Husky named Dolly that leave hair and toys all over the house. Some of my hobbies are welding, video games, lacrosse, and trying new places to eat and explore with my best friend! I am excited to go around the county to meet and work with knowledgeable and experienced people, to collectively strive towards sustainability for our waters and environment.”

On behalf of the Division, Welcome Teresa and Dylan!
