Swearing in ceremony Thursday for new deputies and corrections officers

Five new St. Louis County Deputy Sheriffs and nine Corrections Officers will take an oath to serve and officially be sworn in on Thursday, July 11, at 11 a.m. in a ceremony at the Public Safety Building, 2030 Arlington Avenue, Duluth. The ceremony also will recognize other new staff and recent promotions, plus several recognitions of staff for outstanding service.

The new deputies started working for the County in January and recently completed their initial field training. The new corrections officers started at various times since last fall.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for all law enforcement activity in the unincorporated areas of St. Louis County, as well as several cities. Sheriff’s deputies operate out of regional offices in Duluth, Virginia and Hibbing, with additional stations in Ely and Mountain Iron.
