Linnea Mirsch chosen to lead Public Health and Human Services
Linnea Mirsch, who has been serving as interim director of Public Health and Human Services since July, will now take on the role on a permanent basis. County Administrator Kevin Gray announced today that Mirsch has accepted the position to lead the County's largest department, which has a staff of nearly 700 people serving thousands of St. Louis County residents.
Mirsch has been with the County since 2006, serving in key roles with the County's budget, technology, facilities, strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts. Most recently, she served as Deputy Administrator-Operations and Budget since 2008.
"Linnea has been an impact performer throughout her career with St. Louis County, and is an incredible resource and advocate for Public Health and Human Services already," said Gray. "It goes without saying how much we will miss her leadership and contributions in her previous role in Administration, but are so pleased for her interest in and acceptance of this new opportunity."
In just the last few months, Mirsch has been instrumental in preparing and guiding the Board through budget considerations, including staffing recommendations and other strategies to address the growing challenges of child protection services, out-of-home placements, mental illness and substance abuse.
Mirsch's appointment still requires County Board approval, which is expected to take place on November 1. Commissioners previously gave unanimous approval to her serving on an interim basis.
