St. Louis County Board opens two drop off locations for tree debris disposal

St. Louis County will make available two gravel pits to the public to drop off tree debris related to the recent storms.  These sites are in addition to those being provided by the City of Duluth and City of Rice Lake and will aid citizens in the outlying areas surrounding these communities that were also hit hard by the storms. These self-service sites will accept storm related tree debris starting Wednesday, July 27 and will remain open through August 7, including Saturday and Sunday, during the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Signs will be posted at each location.

The locations are:

Arnold Pit – 6230 Arnold Road (County Road 675) in Gnesen Township on the east side of Arnold Road, approx. ½ mile north of Emerson Road.

Taft Pit – 6350 Munger Shaw Road (County State Aid Highway 15) in Grand Lake Township on the west side of Munger Shaw Road, approx. ½ mile north of the Lost Lake Road (County Road 974) and the CN Railroad Crossing.

County staff will be on site. No other yard waste, household items, construction debris or garbage is allowed.

We hope this opportunity will aid citizens in cleaning up their properties. In addition, St. Louis County road crews continue to make significant progress in cleaning up the road right of ways in the storm affected areas across the county.
