County Assessors staff to visit storm damaged neighborhoods

In the wake of yesterday's storm that devastated parts of Duluth and surrounding communities, staff from the St. Louis County Assessor's Office will visit the area late next week to assess the severity of damage to individual properties. Damage to structures may affect the assessed value of the property, which means the owner may be eligible for a tax credit or abatement.

Damage to other personal property, such as a vehicle or other equipment, will not affect the assessed value of your property. Trees are not considered structures for the purpose of determining abatements or credits.

Residents are encouraged to contact the St. Louis County Assessor’s Office with any questions, or visit stlouiscountymn.gov and follow the link for storm damage resources. The phone number for the Duluth office is (218) 726-2304. Residents in Ely who sustained property damage and would like an assessor to visit should call (218) 365-8206.
