Incident Summary:

On July 5th, 2016, Deputies from the St Louis County Sheriff’s Office, along with members of the St Louis County Rescue Squad, Minnesota State Patrol and volunteers from Gnesen and Rice Lake fire departments responded to the Island Lake area for reports of trees and powerlines down after a powerful storm swept through the area.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel located multiple roads and driveways that were partially or completely blocked by both trees and downed powerlines.

A door-to-door search was conducted to check on those residents in those areas that were the most heavily impacted by the storm. No injuries were reported. Multiple properties were damaged and it will take some time to clean up the debris and restore power. Please call your power company or 911 if you locate a powerline that is down, do not try to remove it.
