Incident Summary:
Defendant Sentenced for
Rice Lake Home Invasion
On April 28,
2016, Guy Robert Franklin Rabold was sentenced to 240 months in
prison by Judge Eric L. Hylden for his role in a home invasion which occurred
on June 5, 2015. Shortly after 1:00
a.m. Rabold and accomplice, John Sorenson, entered the residence in Rice Lake
Township. The men were wearing masks and
brandishing guns with flashlights attached to the barrels, intending to rob the
homeowners. Both suspects were captured
by law enforcement (with the assistance from Sheriff’s K-9 “Diesel”) shortly
after the victims were able to call 911.
On February
1, 2016, the Rabold entered guilty pleas to Aggravated Robbery in the First
Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and
Theft of a Motor Vehicle. A Court Trial
was held on February 1-2 to determine if the Rabold was a Dangerous
Offender, making him eligible for an increased sentence up to the statutory
maximum of 240 months. (John Sorenson had been previously sentenced to 171 months in prison for his
participation in the crimes.)
