Progress continues on Arlington Avenue with additional work beginning, plus information meeting set
Arlington Avenue in Duluth, which already saw major improvements last year following $2.6 million in resurfacing work, is now ready for some finishing details. Beginning Tuesday, April 19, crews will be adjusting manhole covers along Arlington, from Trinity Road to Arrowhead Road. Motorists should expect delays or seek other routes.
Additionally, beginning in June, a final chip seal and final pavement markings will be added. Chip seal is a low cost, maintenance technique that - when applied six months to a year after resurfacing work - is proven to greatly extend how long the road will last.
Meanwhile, also on April 19, St. Louis County Public Works will be holding a public information meeting to update residents and other citizens about plans to extend the sidewalk along the east side of Arlington Avenue from Linden Street to Willow Street.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., at the Duluth Heights Community Recreation Center. 33 W Mulberry Street. County engineers will discuss and be available to answer questions about project design elements, permanent and temporary right of way needs, and the project schedule. The sidewalk expansion is expected to take place in 2017.
