Students, staff, residents ask legislators for help

legislative breakfast

The school board hosted its annual Legislative Breakfast on Friday morning, which brought together more than 40 people to talk about the needs of our schools. The group included legislators, board members, staff, district residents and numerous students.

Much of the conversation centered around the need for more support for mental health and school safety/security, increased general education funding, and changes in funding and mandates for Special Education. See the board's Legislative Platform.

Community begins designing school district of the future

facilities planning

The Community Design Team got creative this past week as they began to brainstorm possible ways to address capacity and enrollment needs of our district. They shared a variety of ideas - from expanding or renovating buildings to constructing entirely new facilities - and worked to identify common themes and unique outliers.

They'll continue the work to narrow their focus at the next meeting, and in the coming weeks will begin to learn more about financial impacts of various scenarios they're considering. Learn more about long-range facilities planning online.

Middle schoolers help feed starving children

Thirty middle school students spent a recent day off of school packing meals for Feed My Starving Children. The field trip opportunity was offered through Stillwater Community Education. The kids, along with other groups, packed more than 40,000 meals. That's enough to feed 111 kids one meal each day for a year!
