Staff are ready for an amazing year!

Staff kicked off the year with a rally at Stillwater Area High School last week complete with the pep band playing the school song. Hundreds of staff were greeted with opening remarks from Superintendent Denise Pontrelli, as well as an inspiring message from guest speaker Dr. Cindra Kamphoff.

Staff also viewed a fun, back-to-school video featuring students from across the district. Watch the video.

Talk of the District with Superintendent Pontrelli

"School starts this week and we have just 180 days to teach, motivate, challenge, inspire and develop personal connections with the 8,300 students in our care. Each one of those days is jam packed with a long list of things to get accomplished. We have standards to meet. Lessons to teach. Meals to serve. Buildings to clean. In our schools the kids always come first. Our teachers, administrators and support staff are more committed than ever to making a difference in the lives of every student. Every day."  Read the full column online.

High school presents Career Pathways idea to school board

Principal Rob Bach and several teachers met with the school board earlier this week to share the work they've been doing to consider ways to better meet the needs of ALL students at the high school. The high school's "Innovation Team" has been focusing on improving student achievement while also making lessons more relevant and increasing the opportunities for students to experience real-world learning beyond the classroom. Learn more about the Pathways program and watch the work session video.

The school board also held a business meeting on Thursday, Aug. 22. Find meeting materials and video of the meeting online.

Get on the bus!

School bus drivers were out practicing their routes last week. One Rutherford Elementary kindergartner was so excited he waited at the end of his driveway and had a special message for her. Watch the video.

Just a reminder ... buses sometimes run a bit behind schedule the first few days of school as students and drivers both settle into the routine. Want to know when the bus will reach your stop? You can track your child's bus by downloading the Versatrans My Stop app.

If you have questions about transportation, call 651.351.8377.

Parents must review, sign off on District Handbook by Oct. 1

By October 1 of each school year, parents/guardians are required to sign off that they have reviewed the policies, procedures and required notices in the District’s Policy Handbook. The handbook includes a variety of information about parental and student rights, expectations and more. Log in to Skyward Family Access to sign the District Policy Sign-Off form.
