National Merit Finalists 2019

Four Stillwater Area High School students have been named National Merit Scholarship Finalists. Abigail Banks-Hehenberger, John Maloney, Elias Roll and Keenan Walker are among just 15,000 seniors in the nation to earn the recognition. Each year about 1.6 million students apply.

Students qualify for the National Merit program by earning top scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which they take during their junior year of high school.

SAHS students make cancer patient's wish come true

Ninja Turtles

Students at Stillwater Area High School helped make the dreams come true for a young cancer patient. Wyatt loves the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so much he wrote a song about it. SAHS students helped bring the song to life for a video. They dressed as Ninja Turtles and helped Wyatt battle Shredder and the other bad guys. It was all part of the Bridging Rooms Project that brings hospital rooms and classrooms together. The video was made by Lad in a Battle with help from the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. Fifth graders jump, run and play during district-wide field day

5th Grade Field Day 2019

Hundreds of fifth graders participated in a district-wide field day. The event was held at Stillwater Area High School's Pony Stadium. Students from our seven elementary schools competed in sprints, relays, the one mile, softball throw, tug-of-war and other events. It was also an opportunity to connect their future classmates before they go to middle school next year. More photos on Facebook.

School meal prices expected to rise next year

As a participant in the National School Lunch Program, the district is required to increase its average meal prices by a minimum of ten cents for the 2019-2020 school year.  The school board is currently considering raising the prices of meals to be effective July 1, 2019 as follows:

  • Elementary student breakfasts by ten cents.
  • Elementary student lunches by fifteen cents.
  • Middle school student lunches by five cents.
  • High school student lunches by ten cents.
  • Adult breakfasts and lunches by ten cents.

The board is expected to vote on the new school meal prices for the 2019-2020 school year at the June 13 board meeting.
