We love our drivers, custodians

Getting kids safely to school and home again in this week's extreme weather took some extra effort. A shout out to our bus drivers, school crossing guards, custodians and maintenance crews and countless others who navigated slick roadways and shoveled, plowed and sanded walkways to keep our kids safe. Thank you!

Make-up snow/cold weather day scheduled on Feb. 18

Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 18, will now be a school day for middle and high school students. Elementary students will not need to come to school, as this will be a parent/teacher conference day.

The school board approved a change to the school calendar to provide a make-up day in response to the unexpected snow/cold days in January. Read more.

We understand this is short notice for families. If your middle school or high school student will not be in attendance on Feb. 18 we just ask that you enter it as an absence in Skyward.

Please note, this decision was made prior to the Feb. 8 snow day, so additional action may be required in the future. We encourage you to contact local legislators to encourage them to waive the instruction hour requirements this year to avoid additional make up days.

Board continues to consider budget adjustments

School board members met on Friday, Feb. 8 to continue their work to further reduce the general fund budget for the 2019-2020 school year. At the work session, board members considered a list of ways to reduce costs to balance the budget and begin to work toward building the fund balance back up to reach their five percent goal (see the latest list of considerations).
