Board looks to further cut district budget for 2019-2020

School board members have agreed to continue looking for ways to reduce the district’s general fund budget by an additional $1.9 million for 2019-2020.

In late December, the board approved $1.081 million in budget adjustments with the understanding they’d come back in January to consider further reductions in order to balance the budget. (See the approved adjustment list).

At its meeting on Friday afternoon the board expressed a desire to cut even deeper in order to not only balance the budget, but build back toward the school board’s policy of maintaining a five percent unassigned fund balance. Read more.


Student group makes dreams come true

Stillwater Area High School's Dollars for Dreams Club has passed the $15,000 mark for microloans!

In just less than three years, the student group has raised money and lent $15,775 to 63 different recipients in 26 different countries. The groups mission is to help people move from poverty to self-sufficiency through micro lending, thus breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Read more.

Families are encouraged to apply for kindergarten by Jan. 15. Children may choose to attend their "assigned" school, alternately enroll into another one of our elementaries, or apply for Spanish Immersion at Lake Elmo. Learn more.

Students earn awards for science and artistic achievements

The 11th annual Da Vinci Fest was a huge success. Hundreds of students competed in a Science Fair, Art Fair, Upcycling Fair, Science Challenge and Spoken Word activities.

Da Vinci Fest is sponsored by The Partnership Plan and Stillwater Area Public Schools.
