Get to know the “new” Stillwater Area Public Schools

high school exterior

The start of the 2017-2018 school year is even more exciting than usual. Not only will we be welcoming back more than 8,300 students for a great year of learning, but we’ll be doing so in a variety of beautiful new learning spaces - thanks to our residents who supported a bond in May 2015.

Read Superintendent Pontrelli's latest column for an update on the construction projects.

Pony Pride at Lumberjack Days

Students shared their Pony Pride at the Stillwater Lumberjack Days Parade. More than 70 kids, along with some staff and parents, handed out Pony Pride goodies to the crowd. Boys soccer players dribbled their way along the route, while gymnasts flipped down the street. Other groups on hand included synchronized swimming, wrestling, football, girls hockey, debate, National Honor Society and Chevals.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered! For pictures visit our Facebook page.

Summer Success students get hooked on learning

fishing

Third graders in the Summer Success program got hooked on learning - literally. About 30 kids spent the day fishing as part of their Marvelous Minnesota unit. While nobody caught the state fish (walleye) they did hook plenty of sunnies and even a turtle. Members of the Washington County Sheriff's Office joined the kids and helped them bait their hooks and reel in their catch.

Getting ready for the first day of school

first day of school

The first day of school is fast approaching! Start dates will be staggered this year according to grade level. The staggered start is designed to help students transition into a new year.

  • Tuesday, August 29: Grades 11 & 12
  • Wednesday, August 30: Kindergarten
  • Tuesday, September 5: Preschool

Please note: A slight adjustment was made to the 2017-2018 calendar: Jan. 29 is now a non-school day and school will be in session on May 14. Visit our website to download the revised, printable year-at-a-glance calendars
