School's out for the summer!

Thank you to all of our students, staff and families for another great year of learning! Read the end-of-the year Talk of the District column for reflections on the school year by Superintendent Pontrelli. 

6th grade

End of the year reminders:
Teachers are finishing up grading for the final semester. Watch for report cards to be shared next week.

Remember, schools will all be closed this summer (except those with summer programming) to allow for the movement of staff and classroom materials between buildings. If you need assistance during the summer, call the district receptionist at 651.351-8340 of visit the Central Services Building, which will be open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Graduation

The class of 2017 graduates on June 3, 2017. This year marks the 141st commencement exercise for Stillwater Area High School. 

  • The ceremony at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul will be broadcast LIVE online. Watch it here
  • It will also be rebroadcast on cable channel 15. Check with Valley Access Cable TV for dates and times.

Distinguished Alumni to be honored this evening

Three individuals will be honored during a special dinner this evening for a lifetime of distinction after graduating from Stillwater Area High School. They will join more than 80 others who have been named Distinguished Alumni since the award was first given in 1987. Watch Facebook for photos and highlights of the event. This year’s class of Distinguished Alumni includes: 

  • Marilyn “Lynn” (Bruette) Abercrombie, Class of 1948; pioneering female photographer 
  • Denis McDonough, Class of 1988; former White House chief of staff 
  • Lee Valsvik, Class of 1978; local media personality.

Free breakfast and lunch all summer long

Summer Meals

Starting this Monday, June 5, children ages 2-18 can eat for free this summer. Specific dates, times and menus are onlineHealthy meals will be served at three locations:

Oak-Land Middle School 
Monday-Friday, June 5-August 18 
Breakfast 8-8:30 a.m. Lunch 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 

Oak Park 
Monday-Friday, June 7-August 18
Breakfast 8-8:30 a.m. Lunch 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 

Andersen Elementary (summer school)
Monday-Thursday, July 10-28
Breakfast 8:45-9:15 a.m. Lunch 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. 


School board meeting time change

The school board will hold a closed session for the purpose of evaluation at 5 p.m. prior to their business meeting on June 8, 2017 at Stillwater City Hall, 216 North 4th Street, Stillwater. A closed session will also be held following the June 8 meeting for the purpose of negotiations.
