Thank you for partnering with us to complete another successful filing season! We plan to release our Letter of Intent (LOI) for tax year 2017 in July. The exact date depends on the release of the national template.

What changes are planned for the 2017 tax year?

  • The unique four-digit Vendor Substitute Form ID in the Software ID element of electronic submissions will be required.
  • A 1D bar code will be added to all the forms for this year to capture the form type and page number.
  • A screen shot from your software showing the refund wording from the LOI will be required.
  • A screen shot from your software showing the driver’s license wording will be required.
  • Payment vouchers for Fiduciary, Partnership, Corporation, and S Corporation returns can be generated.

What changes are planned for Assurance Testing System (ATS) Testing?

  • Test scenarios for Fiduciary, Partnership, Corporation, and S Corporation returns will be more fully developed to verify calculations, table lookups, and the accuracy of the return.
  • 1040NR returns will be added to our Individual Income Tax scenarios.

What else do I need to know?

All software providers who register to file electronically with Minnesota must also submit substitute forms for review. We will not allow any software provider to register for electronic filing only.

We will allow rebranded products to bypass ATS testing if they share a calculation engine with another product from the same company that has passed all ATS test scenarios.
