County government workers recognized for County Gov Month

Boozhoo! Hello District 7 residents, businesses, and friends!

April is County Government Month, Earth Month, and Sexual Assault Awareness Month

County services impact so many of our residents' lives. So much that it is fitting for those of us representing all of you to take the time to recognize the hard work and dedication of our county employees in recognition of County Government Month. Representatives from many county departments were present at our Board meeting on April 1 to be recognized for all they do for the people of Ramsey County.

April is also Earth Month, which honors the achievements of the environmental movement and raises awareness of the need to protect Earth's natural resources for future generations. Please see below for the ways that you can recognize and celebrate Earth Month!

Sexual Assault Awareness Month highlights the importance of preventing sexual violence and supporting survivors. The goal is to educate the public, reduce the stigma, and encourage healthy sexual behaviors. It is also a time to promote access to reproductive health services such as contraception and family planning.

We know there are many other issues to be aware of that are represented during the month of April. If you have issues you'd like us to highlight, please contact my office at 651-266-8368 or email Kathleen at kathleen.murphy@co.ramsey.mn.us.

My office is always here to answer your questions, navigate government services, or help us all foster connections to make Maplewood, North St. Paul and White Bear Lake even better places to live, work and play. Please feel free to reach out via email at Kelly.Miller@co.ramsey.mn.us.

Miigwech, or thank you, for this opportunity to serve you.

Property tax graphic

Ramsey County property owners—please check your mailbox! Tax statements and valuation notices have been sent out via U.S. mail unless opted for electronically. The mailing includes:

  • Tax statement: Breaks down taxes due for the year and provides details on charges like special assessments or service fees.
  • Valuation notice: Shows your property’s classification and valuation, which determines next year’s taxes.
  • There will be a 2025 open book meeting: April 9, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.

Review your valuation notice carefully, and act now if you need to appeal.  You must file any appeals for your property taxes owed by May 5, 2025.  If you have any questions or concerns, contact the County Assessor’s Office at 651-266-2131.

Appealing Your Value

If you have questions or disagree with your property classification or current year’s estimated market value, please contact the Assessor's Office first at 651-266-2131 to discuss your concerns. Many issues can be resolved over the phone. Please be aware that you will:

  • Not speak with an appraiser immediately.
  • Be asked to provide information regarding your concern.
  • Receive a return phone call from an appraiser within three days.

Customers can mail or provide electronic documentation (such as a recent appraisal or sale of the property) that supports your claim of overvaluation or erroneous classification. The appraiser that you speak with over the phone can discuss which method works best for providing them supportive documentation.
