I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to serve you as your County Commissioner for another term. This season, we have come together to honor our veterans and prepare for the joyous holiday season. I am excited to share updates on our latest initiatives, upcoming events, and how we can continue to build a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community.

Mary Jo McGuire Ramsey County Commissioner, District 2
 Ramsey County Board of Commissioners declared December 17, 2024, as Commissioner Victoria Reinhardt Day in Ramsey County. Commissioner Reinhardt was elected to the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners in 1996 and was reelected to seven consecutive terms, representing the cities of White Bear Lake, Maplewood and North St. Paul. Commissioner Reinhardt has been recognized as a nation leader in areas of renewable energy, transportation, housing, public health and safety, libraries, and region governance, advocation on a local, state and national level for support of projects within Ramsey County and across the state and region.
Commissioner Reinhard has served with her colleagues on the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners as Chair, Mentor, cheerleader and friend. Read and watch the proclamation: December 17, 2024 Board Meeting
 The month of November is Native American Heritage Month. The original homelands of American Indian people within the county existed since time immemorial, and Ramsey County acknowledges the contributions of American Indian people prior to its formation and recognizes the inherent sovereignty of Tribal Nations, and the unique political status of Tribal members.  Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 was National Adoption Day, marking the 25th anniversary of the day dedicated to celebrating a family for every child. Ramsey County Social Services hosted an event to celebrate all families who have adopted children from foster care in 2024. This year families spent the day at the Children's Museum enjoying quality time together. 37 children have been adopted in 2024, with a majority of them being adopted by relatives.

Most weeks, our County Board meets to discuss specific policy issues and receive updates from County Departments and Service Teams in our Board Workshops.
Workshops and discussions are held on Tuesdays and are open to the public. These take place at the Saint Paul City Hall and Ramsey County Courthouse in Suite 220 (2nd floor). You can find the schedule for all upcoming board meetings, workshops, and discussions sessions here.

Roseville Resident For Over 70 Years, Turns 100 Christmas Day!
The District 2 Office would like to wish a very Happy 100th Birthday to our long-time resident, Betty Schmidt! Betty, a beloved resident of Roseville, will be celebrating her 100th birthday on Christmas Day! Betty and her late husband, Bill, built their home in Roseville in 1955, where she lived until just last year.
Throughout her life, Betty has been an active community member, contributing to the Friends of Roseville Parks, the Tuesday Women's Golf League at Cederholm Golf Course, and the old Rosebowl bowling league. She has cherished her neighborhood, enjoying walks in Roseville parks and engaging in community events. Betty's dedication and vibrant spirit have left a lasting impact on District 2, inspiring all who know her.
