Residents of District 4,

May holds a special place as it represents a time of growth, transformation, and celebration. The vibrant colors of tulips, daffodils, and cherry blossoms paint a picturesque backdrop, reminding us of the resilience and beauty that surround us. May brings a sense of renewal and vitality to our community.

May also serves as a reminder of the importance of gratitude and appreciation. Mother's Day, observed on the second Sunday of the month, offers us a chance to honor the incredible women who have nurtured and shaped our lives. It is a time to express our love and gratitude for the unconditional support they provide, acknowledging the immeasurable impact they have on our families and our community.

As your Commissioner, I remain committed to serving your needs and advocating for the betterment of our district.

~Rena

Vice President Kamala Harris visited a Minnesota women's reproductive health clinic that performs abortion services during her visit to the state, which her office is touting as the first time that either a sitting president or vice president has visited a reproductive health clinic.

Restore Rondo Event

33
22

The Restore Rondo Event is a community-driven initiative aimed at revitalizing the historic Rondo neighborhood in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Rondo was once a vibrant African American cultural and business hub, but it was severely impacted by the construction of Interstate 94 in the 1960s, which divided the neighborhood and displaced thousands of residents. The event brings together residents, local businesses, activists, and policymakers to celebrate preserving the neighborhood's cultural heritage. Through perseverance the event was an example of solidarity and momentum for the ongoing efforts to restore and reclaim the spirit of Rondo.

After decades of displacement and the destruction caused by urban renewal projects, the reinstatement of Rondo Ave from Concordia Ave signifies a reclaiming of heritage and identity. This historic event symbolizes the community's strength and determination to preserve its cultural legacy, providing a sense of belonging and pride for current and future generations. As the street sign was unveiled, there was palpable sense of triumph and unity, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing journey towards healing and revitalization in the heart of Rondo.

Testifying to Legislators

66
77

Testifying to legislators is crucial for advancing Ramsey County initiatives. Testimony offers a direct channel for community members and stakeholders to advocate for policies and funding that benefit the county. By sharing personal stories, data, and insights, individuals can effectively communicate the importance of various initiatives, such as public health programs, infrastructure improvements, or social services. This engagement helps ensure that legislators are well-informed and motivated to support initiatives that positively impact the residents and overall well-being of Ramsey County.

Youth Justice Transformation (YJT) Meeting

88

Ramsey County is committed a fair, effective, and equitable youth justice system. Ramsey County Youth Justice Transformation promotes public well-being, positive youth development, and the elimination of racial and ethnic disparities by ensuring that effective alternatives to unnecessary detention, probation, out-of-home placement and confinement of youth are available and used in Ramsey County.
