Learn and Earn Human Services Cohort

ap1

This program is a partnership of Merrick, Hired & Karen Organization of Minnesota along with Ramsey County. The students completed a Human Services Pathway 101 module that provides information such as professional and ethics, resource mapping and matching, digital skills (including Microsoft Office), group projects and successful interviewing. They got to choose some additional training as their next steps including mental health first aid, intercultural communication, emotional intelligence and more.

This training will assist the students in their next step to pursuing credentials in specialized programs including Community Health Worker Certificate, Community Interpreter Certificate and Recovery Coach Certificates. This program is part of an intentional strategy of co-invested funds between Ramsey County and the City of Saint Paul. Making a deep investment in our young residents is key to our ability to create a thriving economy. Employers in our community have significant workforce needs, we are rising up to help meet this challenge.

MPMA Academy Student Celebration

ap2

Manufacturing stands as a cornerstone of Ramsey County's economic vitality, offering employment opportunities and bolstering local businesses. The demand for skilled workers in this sector presents boundless opportunities for impactful contributions. Manufacturing drives innovation, job creation, and economic prosperity, all of which are vital components of a thriving Ramsey County economy.

Through St. Paul College's MPMA Academy students spent more than 30 weeks learning about manufacturing including industry fundamentals, hands-on fabrication, opportunities for their careers, and tours of area employers. The students are now ready to pursue their next steps, whether it is continuing education or seeking employment in the manufacturing sector.  Several of the students got their driver’s license as well.

Deepest gratitude to all who have supported this program, including Ramsey County, the City of St. Paul, St. Paul College, Goodwill Easter Seals, and MN Precision Manufacturing. From instructors and mentors to family, classmates, and staff, each of you has played a crucial role in bringing us to this momentous occasion.

Young Adult Career Academy (YACA) Cohort Visit

ap4

The goal of YACA is to provide innovative programming by engaging our young adults in the community with exposure to occupations in the county which offer a fulfilling career, livable wages and excellent benefits.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to connect with the next generation of leaders and innovators, and I look forward to witnessing their future successes.

MN Promise Act Community Conversation

ap6

It was a pleasure to host this community event to discuss the Minnesota Promise Act, and I was thrilled with the turnout of many small businesses, community based organizations and entrepreneurs.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the conversation. Your participation is vital as we strive to build a stronger and more inclusive community.
