Home meal delivery program served up more than 500,000 to residents
The home meal delivery program launched in early August 2020. Use of the program steadily increased throughout the late summer and fall.
In 2020, qualifying residents impacted by COVID-19 were eligible for up to 21 prepared meals delivered to their homes for free each week. Beginning in January 2021, qualifying residents were eligible for up to 14 meals each week.
More than 500,000 meals were delivered through the program.
All meals were nutritionally balanced and prepared by licensed food providers. Some providers offered meal options that accommodate specific dietary restrictions.
Afro Deli - one of the food providers delivering meals to those put in danger by the pandemic - was featured by KARE 11.

Vaccinations still recommended for those who have had COVID-19 infection
During a Ramsey County Board of Commissioners meeting, Dr. Lynne Ogawa, Medical Director for Saint Paul – Ramsey County Public Health, discused the importance of getting vaccinated even if you have been infected with COVID-19.
"We know there's some immunity after you get it naturally, but we know that the ability to fight the infection lasts considerably longer after a vaccine," Dr. Ogawa said.

Resuming use of water fountains
Water fountains are an important resource in public spaces, especially during summer when heat and dehydration can be the most dangerous.
The risk of getting COVID-19 from touching a solid surface (like a water fountain button) is low, and COVID-19 has not been found in drinking water.
Visit Resuming Use of Water Fountains: COVID-19 for guidance on how to safely reopen water fountains, information on cleaning and disinfection, and resources on heat-related illness.
