July 20 update: Highway 96 signal work and County Road E resurfacing begin next week
Work to replace the traffic signal controls on Highway 96 begins next week, which will cause significant traffic delays.
Resurfacing projects will begin next week on County Road E and Koehler Road.
Skip ahead to information on:
Work begins Monday, July 23 to replace traffic signal
control units on Highway 96. The new controls will
support flashing yellow left turn lights.
Crews will work on one signal at a time. Each signal is
expected to take one day to complete. It will take about four weeks to complete
all signals.
Traffic impacts
Signals will be non-operational on the day(s) their
controls are replaced. Intersections will be signed as all-way stops and law
enforcement officers will assist with traffic control during rush hours. Lane
restrictions may be in place.
Please plan ahead for delays and use alternate routes when
possible to reduce congestion.
Schedule
Work will begin with the signal at Hamline Avenue and move
east. Crews will work on the following signals the week of July 23:
- Hamline Avenue – Monday,
July 23.
- Lexington Avenue – Tuesday,
July 24.
- Victoria Street –
Wednesday, July 25.
- Snail Lake Boulevard –
Thursday, July 26.
Resurfacing will begin July 26 on County Road E between Centerville Road and Highway 61 in Vadnais Heights.
The road will remain open to traffic during resurfacing. Access to businesses and driveways will be maintained. Lane closures will be used to control traffic.
Traffic signals will be set to flashing stops while crews
are working at night. Signals will operate normally during the day.
Overnight work
Milling and paving is scheduled to take place overnight from 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Noises from trucks beeping and the milling itself may be heard from your home. Bright and flashing lights will be used in the work zone.
Schedule
Work will begin at Centerville Road and move east toward Highway 61. Work is scheduled to take place the following nights:
- Thursday, July 26.
- Friday, July 27.
- Monday, July 30.
- Tuesday, July 31.
- Wednesday, August 1 (tentative).
The project is expected to be complete by mid-August.
Koehler Road between Edgerton Street and Centerville Road will be resurfaced beginning July 25. The road will be milled on July 25. Paving will begin July 26.
The project will take approximately three weeks to complete.
The Jackson Street bridge over Pennsylvania Avenue will be repaired beginning July 30.
Work is expected to last four weeks.
The bridge will be closed and signed detours will be in place.
Work continues on storm sewers, catch basins and traffic signal detectors on Lexington Parkway between James and University avenues.
Resurfacing is currently expected to begin August 2, weather permitting. Work will be done in five segments to limit traffic disruptions.
County Road J Work is underway on County Road J between Highway 61 and Portland Avenue and is expected to last until early August. The road is closed to through traffic.
Lexington Avenue Paving is complete. Ground-in, high-durability stripes will be added to Lexington Avenue between East Como Boulevard and Highway 36 in late July or early August.
McKnight Road Paving is complete on McKnight Road between Larpenteur Avenue and 7th Avenue. Ground-in, high-durability stripes will be added to the road in late July or early August.
Old Highway 8 Paving is complete on Old Highway 8 between Long Lake Park and County Road H. Ground-in, high-durability stripes will be added to the road in late July or early August.
County Road F Construction on County Road F between Hamline Avenue and Lexington Parkway will last through fall.
Lexington Parkway Work continues on the Lexington Parkway signal at St. Clair Avenue.
Old Snelling Road The city of Arden Hills continues to work on Old Snelling Road between county roads E and E2.
Warner Road bridge The westbound Warner Road bridge is being repaired. Work is expected to last through the summer.
