Updated Brownfield Program Services guidance document!
The MPCA’s Brownfield Program has updated the Brownfield Program Services guidance document to provide clarification of the services provided and additional detail about requirements for certain assurance letters. The revised document addresses topics such as:
- The need for relevant soil and/or groundwater data to accompany soil vapor data collected at sites.
- The required scope of soil vapor investigation for parties seeking a vapor closure letter from the Voluntary Investigation and Cleanup (VIC) Program.
- The importance of achieving laboratory reporting limits for soil vapor analyses that are low enough to answer the questions that need to be answered in order to pursue a vapor closure letter.
- The discretionary nature of a No Association Determination (NAD) and Retroactive NAD, and when the VIC Program may decline to issue these letters to a voluntary party.
The document can be found on the MPCA’s Brownfield Program webpage. Users of the Brownfield Program are encouraged to become familiar with the Brownfield Program Services guidance document to help your sites move efficiently through the program. If you have questions about the information presented or suggestions for improvement, please reach out to Stacey VanPatten (Petroleum Brownfields Program) at stacey.vanpatten@state.mn.us or Amy Hadiaris (VIC Program) at amy.hadiaris@state.mn.us.
