The “Best Management Practices for Vapor Investigation and Building Mitigation Decisions” originally released on November 1, 2016 has been updated.

Since the original Best Management Practices (BMP) release, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has met with stakeholders that have implemented various components of the BMP. The quality feedback and suggestions we received from stakeholders were instrumental in targeting elements of the BMP to update. One of the key feedback items we received was on the investigation and mitigation of larger buildings. This BMP update includes new sections summarizing partial building investigation and partial building mitigation options for larger buildings.

Following is a summary of the September 2017 updates to the “Best Management Practices for Vapor Investigation and Building Mitigation Decisions”:

  • Pages 10-11 include a new section providing BMPs for Partial Building Investigation (PBI) for larger buildings.
  • Page 11 includes a new section providing BMPs for Partial Building Mitigation (PBM) for larger buildings.
  • Footnote 4 for Tables 1 and 2 was updated for clarification regarding expedited action conditions.
