2012 Court Resurfacing Program

Five parks in the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) park system have basketball or tennis courts slated for rehabilitation work this summer. Work is expected to begin at the two tennis courts at Lyndale Farmstead Park July 30 with courts at all five locations resurfaced by mid-September. Courts selected for resurfacing as part of the MPRB's facility and site maintenance program meet the criteria, are geographically distributed throughout the city, and fit within budgetary constraints. Striping for pickleball or youth tennis will be added to tennis courts to accommodate multiple uses. Courts will be resurfaced and striped in the following parks:

  • Lyndale Farmstead Park (two tennis courts) - to be striped with standard doubles striping and pickleball striping in blue
  • Nokomis Park (two tennis courts) - to be striped with standard doubles striping and pickleball striping in blue
  • Powderhorn Park (five tennis courts) - to be striped with standard doubles striping and 60' youth tennis court striping
  • Sibley Park (one basketball court) - basketball court striping
  • Webber Park (five tennis courts) - to be striped with standard doubles striping and 60' youth tennis court striping

Courts will be closed while resurfacing work is in progress. For reasons of safety as well as project integrity, park patrons are asked to observe and respect closed construction areas.

The following schedule is subject to change, as the resurfacing work is subject to the favorable weather conditions.

  • July 30 - August 3: Lyndale Farmstead Park
  • August 1 - 12: Powderhorn Park
  • August 6 - September 15: Sibley Park
  • August 14 - 29: Webber Park
  • Sometime between July 30 and September 15: Nokomis Park
