Construction Highlights for the Weeks of September 1st - 7th

• Ramp from 4th Street to southbound I-35W/west I-94/east Hwy 55 closed on Wednesday, September 5th and Thursday, September 6 from 9 AM to 3 PM ; see below for more details. -NEW
• Ramp from northbound I-35W to University of Minnesota East Bank open. -NEW
• Washington Avenue Bridge open. Overnight lane closures may occur over the next two weeks; advance notice will be posted on road signs and published online. -NEW
• East River Parkway under the Washington Avenue Bridge open. -NEW
• South sidewalk on Washington Avenue between Church Street and Harvard Street fully open by Tuesday, September 4th. -NEW
• Intersection of Ontario Street and Washington Avenue reopens Saturday, September 1st. For details see below. -NEW
• Huron Boulevard reopens Saturday, September 1st. -NEW
• Washington Avenue between Huron Boulevard and University Avenue reopens Tuesday, September 4th. -NEW
• Construction switches to the north side of University Avenue at Huron Boulevard; traffic shifts to the south lanes Tuesday, September 4th. -NEW

Other Road Construction in the Minneapolis Area

I-35W and Washington Avenue Interchange Area

• Ramp from 4th Street to southbound I-35W/west I-94/east Hwy 55 closed on Wednesday, September 5th and Thursday, September 6 from 9 AM to 3 PM ; detour via Cedar Avenue to Washington Avenue. -NEW
• Ramp from northbound I-35W to University of Minnesota East Bank open; only right-turns to the east are available. -NEW
• Hiawatha Bicycle Path between West Bank and downtown Minneapolis over I-35W detoured through 2013 Web Link (pdf)  
  

West Bank Area

• Washington Avenue Bridge and SE Cedar Avenue ramp open. -NEW
• Westbound traffic from East Bank to downtown continues to turn right on northeast Cedar Avenue Ramp and through to the northwest Cedar Avenue Ramp to access 3rd Street.

East Bank– Mississippi River to West of Harvard Street 

• Northbound and southbound East River Parkway open to vehicles and bicycles under the Washington Avenue Bridge. -NEW
• Washington Avenue Bridge open. Overnight lane closures may occur over the next two weeks; advance notice will be posted on road signs and published online. -NEW

• Pedestrian paths on both sides of East River Parkway closed under the Washington Avenue Bridge; use alternate route.
• North sidewalk of Washington Mall closed from Pleasant Street to Church Street; detour via sidewalk on north side of Ford Hall.
• East and west crosswalks at intersection of Washington and Church Street closed; use pedestrian bridges near Coffman Union.
• South sidewalk on Washington Avenue between Church Street to Harvard Street fully open by Tuesday, September 4th. -NEW
• East and west crosswalks at Union Street and Washington Avenue intersection closed; temporary crosswalks added east and west of intersection. -NEW
• South sidewalk of Washington Avenue between Pleasant Street and Church Street closed.
  

Stadium Village- Harvard Street to Huron Boulevard 

• Intersection of Ontario Street and Washington Avenue reopens Saturday, September 1st. -NEW
• Washington Avenue closed between Oak Street and Huron Boulevard through mid-September. Access to the Valu Liquor parking lot is available from University Avenue, through the Burger King parking lot, to Washington Avenue.
  

• Crosswalks reopen at intersection of Washington Avenue and Ontario Street Saturday, September 1st. -NEW
• Eastbound bus stop at Ontario Street and University Avenue closed; bus stop relocated to the southwest corner of Oak Street and University Avenue.
  
  
  

Stadium Village- University Avenue, Huron Boulevard and 23rd Avenue

• Huron Boulevard reopens Saturday, September 1st. -NEW
• Washington Avenue between Huron Boulevard and University Avenue reopens Tuesday, September 4th. -NEW

• Crosswalks reopen at intersection of Huron Boulevard and Washington Avenue Saturday, September 1st. -NEW
• South and east crosswalks reopen at intersection of University Avenue and Huron Boulevard/23rd
  Saturday, September 1st. North and west crosswalks close Tuesday, September 4th; use east crosswalk or pedestrian crossing north of intersection on 23rd Avenue and 4th Street . -NEW
  

Prospect Park - 29th Avenue to Emerald Street  -NO CHANGES

• South side of Bedford Street closed to traffic to/from University Avenue beginning; detour via Malcolm    Avenue to Orlin Avenue, or via Eustis Street to Franklin, or via Curfew Street to Franklin Avenue.
• 29th Avenue closed at Fourth Street; access to businesses and parking lots maintained. Access parking lots and businesses on the west side of 29th Avenue from the west via 27th Avenue to Fourth Street. Access parking lots and businesses on the east side of 29th Avenue from the east via Malcolm Avenue to Fourth Street. Access to University Park Plaza at 2829 University available from westbound University Avenue to 29th Avenue; 29th is open only to local access to/from the parking lots at 2829 University.
• All traffic shifted to the north side of University Avenue between St. Mary’s Avenue and Berry Street; two way traffic maintained and access to businesses maintained.
• Arthur Avenue closed to thru traffic to/from University Avenue; detour via Malcolm Avenue to Sidney Place.
• Clarence Avenue closed to thru traffic to/from University Avenue; detour via Malcolm Street, to Orlin      Avenue, to Seymour.
  

• East crosswalk at Malcolm Avenue and University Avenue closed; use west crosswalk.
  

• Eastbound bus stop on University and Bedford Street closed; use bus stops at Malcolm Avenue or near Berry Street.
