Construction Highlights for the Week of June 9 - 15

• Washington Avenue Bridge closure THIS WEEKEND from 8PM Friday, June 8th to 5AM Monday, June 11th. - NEW  
• 4th Street entrance ramp to southbound I-35W closed Wednesday, June 13th from 9AM to 3PM and Thursday, June 14th from 9AM to 3PM. - NEW
• Temporary sidewalk closures on the south side of Washington Avenue between Harvard Street and Walnut Street closed. - NEW
• East crosswalk at intersection of Washington Avenue and Ontario Street now open. - NEW
• Sidewalk in front of Hong Kong Noodle and Valu Liquor closes mid-week for approximately two weeks. - NEW

Other Road Construction in the Minneapolis Area

I-35W and Washington Avenue Interchange Area 

• 4th Street entrance ramp to southbound I-35W closed Wednesday, June 13th from 9AM to 3PM and Thursday, June 14th from 9AM to 3PM; detour via Cedar Avenue ramp to Washington Avenue to I-35W entrance ramp - NEW
• Southeast Cedar Avenue ramp to eastbound Washington Avenue closed until mid-June.
• Ramp from northbound I-35W to University of Minnesota East Bank closed until end of summer to allow for installation of a fully signalized intersection. - NEW

West Bank Area- NO CHANGE FOR WEEKDAYS

• Eastbound traffic from downtown to Cedar Avenue/West Bank turns left onto northwest Cedar Avenue Ramp.
• Southeast Cedar Avenue Ramp closed until mid-June.

Weekend Closures of Washington Avenue Bridge

CLOSED: 8:00 PM on Friday, June 8th through 5:00 AM on Monday, June 11th

and  

CLOSED: 2:00 AM on Saturday, June 16th through 5:00 AM on Monday, June 18th

• From West Bank, eastbound Washington Avenue closed at Cedar Avenue. Detour via northbound I-35W, exit University Avenue/4th Street to eastbound University Avenue.
• From East Bank, ramp to Washington Avenue Bridge closed from Arlington Street. Detour to West Bank via westbound 4th Street to southbound I-35W.

• No changes to sidewalk access, south side of pedestrian deck on Washington Avenue Bridge will remain open during vehicle deck closure.
• Metro Transit bus stops for eastbound buses located at Blegen Hall will be closed; use 19th Avenue/Washington Avenue bus stop.
• Bus stop for Metro Transit, University of Minnesota Campus Connectors and Campus Circulators at Willey Hall closed; use 19th Avenue/Washington Avenue bus stop.
  

• Construction activities will occur during day and nighttime hours to expedite the work. 

East Bank– Mississippi River to West of Harvard Street

-NO CHANGE

• Southbound East River Parkway under the Washington Avenue Bridge closed through mid-August; northbound East River Parkway remains open. Access to buildings and parking ramp will be maintained. For vehicle/bicycle detour details for all summer road closures, visit http://bit.ly/IJo8gt. 

• Crosswalks at Union Street and Washington Avenue intersection closed; temporary crosswalks added north of intersection on Union Street and approximately 30 feet west of the intersection.
• Washington Avenue entrances to University of Minnesota Transportation and Safety building closed through August 2012; enter building via entrance on Union Street (through the parking ramp driveway) or Harvard Street.
• Pedestrian/bicycle path on the west side of East River Parkway closed through mid-August; pedestrians detour around construction via use of east sidewalk. Southbound bicycles must detour using traffic detour, do not ride your bicycle on sidewalks.
• North sidewalk of Washington Avenue between Pleasant Street and Amundson Hall closed; use south sidewalk or sidewalk on the north side of Ford Hall and Amundson Hall.
• South sidewalk of Washington Avenue between Pleasant Street and Church Street closed.
• Washington Avenue north/south crossings at Church Street closed; use pedestrian bridges near Coffman Memorial Union. ADA access available via west pedestrian bridge.

Stadium Village- Harvard Street to Huron Boulevard 

• Intersection of Harvard Street and Washington Avenue closed through the end of July 2012; detour via Delaware Street, Walnut Street, and Beacon Street.
• Washington Avenue closed between Oak Street and University Avenue through August 2012. Access to Hong Kong Noodle and Valu Liquor is available from the north side of Ontario Street to eastbound Washington Avenue; exit the area through the parking lot of Burger King northbound to University Avenue.
• Ontario Street closed at Washington Avenue to through traffic; local access on Ontario remains open north and south of Washington Avenue.

• Sidewalk closed for about a week on the south side of Washington Avenue between Noodles & Company and Walnut Street; detour via north sidewalk to temporary mid-block crosswalk to the south sidewalk. Pedestrian access to all businesses maintained. - NEW
• West and south crosswalk of the intersection of Walnut and Washington closed; use east and north crosswalk. –NEW
• Sidewalk in front of Hong Kong Noodle and Valu Liquor closes mid-week for approximately two weeks; pedestrians will be detoured to the south sidewalk via temporary crossings at Ontario Street and mid-block. Pedestrian access to all businesses maintained - NEW
• East crosswalk at intersection of Washington Avenue and Ontario Street now open, west crosswalk remains closed. North crosswalk pushed back from the intersection about 20 feet. - NEW
• East and west crosswalk at intersection of Harvard Street and Washington Avenue closed though the end of July; detour via mid-block crossing located between Harvard Street and Walnut Street. North and south crosswalks pushed out from the intersection about 20 feet.
  

Stadium Village- University Avenue, Huron Boulevard, and 23rd Avenue -NO CHANGE

• All traffic shifted to the north side of University Avenue between 23rd Avenue and 25th Avenue; two way traffic maintained.
• Washington Avenue from Huron Boulevard to University Avenue closed through August.  Access Arby’s parking lot and drive-thru via Huron Boulevard. Access CSL Plasma via driveway on Huron Boulevard and driveway on University Avenue. 
• Huron Boulevard from just north of the Arby’s driveway to University Avenue closed through August.  For detour details for all summer road closures, visit http://bit.ly/IJo8gt.

• Intersection of University Avenue and Huron Boulevard/23rd, south and east crosswalks closed; use north or west crosswalks.
• South sidewalk of University Avenue between Huron Boulevard and Washington Avenue closed; use north sidewalk on University Avenue or south sidewalk on Washington  Avenue.
• East sidewalk on Huron Boulevard between University Avenue and Washington Avenue closed; use west sidewalk.
• North and east crosswalk at intersection of Huron Boulevard and Washington Avenue closed; use west or south crosswalks. South crosswalk located approximately 30 feet to the south of the intersection.
• North sidewalk of Washington Avenue closed between Huron Boulevard and University Avenue; use south sidewalk.
• East sidewalk of 23rd Avenue between 4th Street and University Avenue closed; use west sidewalk.
  

Prospect Park

• 29th Avenue closed; access to businesses and parking lots maintained.  Access parking lots and businesses on the west side of 29th Avenue from the west via 27th Avenue to 4th Street.  Access parking lots and businesses on the east side of 29th Avenue from the east via Malcolm Avenue to 4th Street.
• 30th Avenue closed to thru traffic to/from University Avenue; use Malcolm Avenue to 4th Street.
• All traffic shifted to the south side of University Avenue between 29th Avenue and Emerald Street; two way traffic maintained.

• North sidewalk of University Avenue between 29th Avenue and Malcolm Avenue closed through mid-week; detour via south sidewalk at the 29th Avenue pedestrian crossing or at Malcolm Avenue. Access will be maintained to Prospect Park Business Center via a mid-block crossing on 29th Avenue. - NEW
• Sidewalk closed on north side of University Avenue between Malcolm Avenue and Clarence Avenue in front of Spire Credit Union; detour via temporary pedestrian path following the perimeter of the construction zone in front of Spire. 
• West crosswalk at intersection of Malcolm and University closed; use crosswalk on east side of intersection to cross University Avenue.

Please don't go around barriers into construction zones. Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances! Check www.centralcorridor.org frequently for updates. 

Construction Activity Look Ahead

• Short-term sidewalk closures on the south sidewalk of Washington Avenue between Harvard Street and Walnut Street continues to occur through June. - NEW
• North side pedestrian deck of the Washington Avenue Bridge reopens in mid-June.
• Traffic changes will occur in the West Bank area and on Washington Avenue Bridge in mid-June.
• Southeast Cedar Avenue ramp to eastbound Washington Avenue reopens in mid-June.
• Traffic changes will occur on University Avenue between 29th Avenue and Bedford Street in late June.
• Construction activities begin on the south side of University Avenue between 29th Avenue and Bedford Street in late June. - NEW
