The westbound bus lane on Marshall Avenue between Wilder and Cretin will remain until at least Spring 2026.
Metro Transit, the City of Saint Paul, and Ramsey County will extend the duration of the Marshall Avenue bus lane between Wilder and Cretin avenues until at least Spring 2026. The bus lane was implemented in June 2025 and initially planned for removal in late 2025.
Metro Transit, the City of Saint Paul, and Ramsey County are considering making the bus lane permanent and seeking public feedback on its benefits and trade-offs.

This bus lane has improved bus speeds and travel time consistency, allowing riders to reach their destinations faster and on time. B Line riders use the route to get where they need to go, such as to healthcare appointments, school, work, shopping, buying groceries, visiting friends, and more.
General bus lane information:
- Wilder to Cretin westbound bus lane is active weekdays from 7 AM to 6 PM. On-street parking for approximately 40 vehicles is not permitted during bus lane hours.
- Bikes and right turns are allowed
- Existing westbound bus lane between Cretin Avenue and the Mississippi River will not change

Minneapolis
Metro Transit crews are responsible for clearing snow from the bus platform area, while property owners remain responsible for clearing sidewalks, including behind the station platform, and maintaining the ability for pedestrians to access the station. Please do not move snow onto the platform. Snow may be stored in the boulevard areas next to the stations.
Sidewalk Snow Clearing Rules
- Shovel the entire width of the city sidewalk on your entire property down to bare pavement.
- If you live on a corner, clear curb cutouts at the street corners and crosswalks to the street gutter.

Shovel around your garbage carts and recycling bins.
- If you do not, the City may do it for you and charge a fee
- Shovel snow into your yard or boulevard. It’s against the law to shovel snow into streets or alleys.
Single-family homes and duplexes: You must clear sidewalks within 24 hours after it stops snowing.
All other properties: You must clear sidewalks within 4 daytime hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) after it stops snowing.

Sidewalk Shoveling Guide
- Clear sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours after a winter weather event.
- Shovel the full width of the sidewalk, including hard boulevards if there’s street parking.

Clear corner curb cuts, bus stops without a shelter, and fire hydrants along your property.

Pile snow onto your yard or boulevard. It’s unlawful to shovel snow into streets, alleys, parking places, or in front of other properties.
- If you have new concrete sidewalks or driveway aprons do NOT use any salt products for the first winter season. It will damage the new concrete. Please use sand or grit for traction.
- You’re not required to clear snow ridges or piles left by plows beyond the street gutter, but it can be a great help to pedestrians.
