Dates are approximate and subject to change.
Week of May 5:
- Crews will lay asphalt and install underground utilities.
- Crews will continue sawcutting and removal of concrete on the south side of University.
- This work includes the use of heavy machinery, and impacts such as vibrations, loud noise, and dust and debris are to be expected.

- Crews will continue to install underground utilities.
- Crews will grade surfaces in preparation for concrete work.
- Crews will construct sidewalks and roadway surfaces.

- Xcel Energy is currently relocating electrical utilities in preparation for E Line construction at this location.
- Following completion of Xcel utility work, Metro Transit contractors will set up traffic control and begin removals.

- Crews will adjust traffic control to begin working on the opposite side of the street (traffic will continue to operate the same).

Following the completion of civil construction, work is focused on installation of lighting and E Line platform amenities. We will update this section when we have timelines for this work.
Note: The City of Edina is currently constructing sidewalks along the east side of France Avenue between 60th and 62nd streets. This is not METRO E Line work. To learn more about this project or if you have a concern, please reach out to Chad Millner at the City of Edina.
For E Line construction, a full closure of France Avenue at 62nd Street was approved for up to 3 weeks. This closure began April 14. During this full closure BOTH northbound and southbound traffic are using the detour on Xerxes Avenue between 60th and 66th streets. France Avenue is expected to reopen to northbound vehicles on May 5.
Week of May 5:
- Crews will continue to grade and construct sidewalks on the east and west sides of France Avenue.
- Traffic control will change and northbound access will return along France through 62nd Street. Southbound traffic will continue to be detoured onto Xerxes between 60th and 66th streets.
Week of May 12:
- Crews will complete civil construction and remove traffic control.
- Following completion of civil construction, France Avenue and 62nd Street will be reopened to all directions of traffic.
Note: The City of Edina is currently reconstructing 65th Street east of Drew Avenue. This is not METRO E Line work. To learn more about this project or if you have a concern, please see the City’s project website.
- Access to Southdale Hospital and Southdale Medical Center parking lots and garages will be maintained during construction.
- France Avenue can be accessed from the Hospital and Medical Center by taking Drew Avenue to 66th Street.
