 Detour signage for southbound France Avenue is now in place. Phased construction will allow France Avenue to remain open to northbound through-traffic for the duration of work, detouring southbound through-traffic to Xerxes Avenue between 39th Street and 60th Street. Local traffic between station intersections will be able to travel northbound and southbound.
Traffic control and pedestrian access signage is in place along France Avenue.
Dates are approximate and subject to change. More details about construction detours and signage will be made available as construction progresses.
- This station will be constructed in 2025.
 Week of Oct. 21:
- Construction continues with conduit boring and grading for the curbs and concrete bus pad.
Week of Oct. 28:
- Construction will continue with curb construction, grading, and roadway paving.
- Northbound, southbound, eastbound and westbound vehicle traffic can travel through the intersection.
- Following the completion of civil construction, work will focus on installation of permanent traffic signals and E Line platform amenities. We will update this section when we have timelines for this work.
Week of Oct. 21:
- Southbound France is open at this intersection.
- Construction continues with sidewalk construction on the north side of 44th Street, roadway and curb removals, and underground utility work on the west side of France Avenue.
Week of Oct. 28:
- Construction will continue with curb construction and underground conduit boring.
- W 44th St to France Ave S will open to vehicular traffic by end of week.
Week of Oct. 21:
- Construction continues with curb and concrete bus pad construction as well as final grading and asphalt pavement.
Week of Oct. 28:
- Construction will continue with station electrical work.
Week of Oct. 21:
- Construction continues with installation of pavers in the southwest corner of the intersection, concrete bus pad construction, grading and asphalt paving north of 50th Street, and signal and electrical work in the northeast corner of the intersection.
- Traffic on 50th Street will be shifted to the north side of the street and work will start on pavement removals south of 50th Street.
Week of Oct. 28:
- Construction will continue with underground electrical work, and platform and sidewalk concrete work north of 50th Work will also continue with conduit crossings, pavement removals and grading, curb construction, and asphalt paving south of 50th Street.
Week of Oct. 21:
- Construction shifts into stage 2.
- Stage 2 begins with sidewalk and pavement removals and underground utility work.
Week of Oct. 28:
- Construction will continue with underground utility work, conduit borings, and grading for curbs and the concrete bus pad.

- Construction continues with platform and sidewalk concrete work, striping, temporary signal modification, and removal of traffic control

While major construction of E Line stations is happening at these locations this year, final completion of stations will occur next year as Metro Transit prepares for the beginning of E Line service. Activities in 2025 will include installation of station amenities (including shelters, real-time signs, bike racks, and benches) and equipment testing. These activities are expected to take only a few days at each site and will cause minimal disruption to traffic.
Metro Transit is seeking your feedback on Network Now, a plan designed to grow ridership, expand job access, and better meet the region’s changing mobility needs. This plan will directly affect bus service levels (both local bus and bus rapid transit) in the E Line corridor and the region through 2027. Please read and comment on the plan by Nov. 15.
In addition to stations, E Line construction activities will also include installation of fiber optic communication infrastructure and construction of additional pedestrian, traffic signal, bikeway, and intersection improvements delivered in partnership with Hennepin County and the City of Minneapolis.
- Work in the corridor will include station construction, utility work, pavement and intersection improvements, and traffic signal changes.
- Expect temporary lane restrictions and marked detours for traffic.
- Pedestrian access will remain for businesses and residences.
- Buses will experience detours during construction. Up-to-date information about bus detours and temporary stop locations can be found at metrotransit.org/alerts and by subscription to Rider Alerts.
- Southbound Route 6 buses will be detoured off France Avenue during E Line Construction.
- Routes 6C,6E and 6K are detoured off Sheridan Ave from 39th St to 40th St. Detour map
- Route 46 buses will be detoured off 50th Street between Ewing Avenue and Halifax Avenue.

- Construction will be staged at each station intersection to allow for vehicular traffic flow.
