Imagine 2050 proposed local forecasts

Forecasts provide a shared foundation for coordinated comprehensive planning. Metropolitan Council develops forecasts of when, where, and how much population, households, and jobs growth the seven-county region and local jurisdictions can expect over 30 years. In 2023, Met Council published the regional total population and jobs forecasts. Following that, we used UrbanSim, a real estate market simulation model, to allocate forecasts to the local level. 

Plug-in to Imagine 2050 Visit our local forecasts page to interact with the data and submit online feedback. You can also email feedback or questions to public.info@metc.state.mn.us. Metropolitan Council would like to know:  What are your comments on the reasonableness of metro-wide patterns?  What are your comments on local forecast results?  For local results, do the 2050 forecasts exceed local capacities to accommodate the households or employment forecast?  Metropolitan Council will consider your comments in preparing final local forecasts that will be adopted with the Imagine 2050 plan.
