Construction is active along Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue in Minneapolis, with major work currently between East Bde Maka Ska Parkway and 22nd Avenue. 

Tentatively planned for the evenings of June 7 and June 8, work is currently expected to shift to the south side of Lake Street the week of Aug. 7. Traffic patterns will shift to close one lane of traffic on the south side of Lake Street and re-open the currently closed lane on the north side. This traffic shift will require the project contractor to make overnight changes to lane markings that will produce noise including grinding, large truck noises, and street sweeping noises. Due to the level of traffic during the day, this work must be completed at night.

Utility work    

• Crews continue to install underground fiber optic cable along the corridor.        
• Separately from the B Line and Lake Street improvements, CenterPoint Energy is updating its infrastructure and gas meters in some locations. CenterPoint Energy staff may contact residents and businesses about potential short-term gas outages as they upgrade equipment.  For more information on CenterPoint’s work, view its project website. 

Current closure information    

• The south side of the intersection of Lagoon Avenue and Knox Avenue continues to be closed.
• CenterPoint Energy will close Holmes Avenue on the south side of Lake Street starting the week of June 3.
• The north lanes of Lagoon Avenue between Dupont Avenue and Hennepin Avenue, and the south lanes of Lagoon Avenue between Hennepin Avenue and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway are currently closed, maintaining at least one lane for through traffic in each direction.
• The south side of Lake Street between East Bde Maka Ska Parkway and 21st Avenue is currently closed, maintaining at least one lane in each direction for through traffic. Traffic control changes may be made near the City of Minneapolis’ 1st Avenue project. Learn more about this project here.
• In early June, traffic will be shifted to the south side of Lake Street between Dupont Avenue and Blaisdell Avenue. This traffic shift will require the project contractor to make overnight changes to lane markings that will produce noise including grinding, large truck noises, and street sweeping noises.

Bus lane installation

• This week, crews resumed painting the red bus lane on East Lake Street between 44th and 27th avenues. This work will continue into next week.

Upcoming construction activities

• This week, crews completed concrete work and CenterPoint Energy began work at the intersection. This work may include temporary road closures.

Lagoon Avenue and Humboldt 

• This week, crews completed underground electrical work as well as pavement patching.

• This week, crews completed underground electrical work, curb and gutter work, and pavement patching.

• Work in this section begins the week of June 3 and includes concrete removals, storm sewer work, and curb and gutter work, as well as pavement patching.

• Concrete work at this intersection will continue until complete on the south side of the street.
• Traffic will be shifted to the south side of the street the weekend of June 7-9 and the week of June 10; crews will begin work on the north side of the street.

• Concrete work at this intersection will continue until complete on the south side of the street.
• Traffic will be shifted to the southern side of the street the weekend of June 7-9 and the week of June 10; crews will begin work on the northern side of the street.

• This week, crews completed curb and gutter work and continued concrete work.
• The week of June 3, crews will continue concrete work and will complete underground electrical work and pavement patching.
