Construction is active along Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue in Minneapolis, with major work currently along Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue between East Bde Maka Ska Parkway and Pillsbury Avenue.

Utility work    

• Crews continue to install underground fiber optic cable along the corridor.        
• Separately from the B Line and Lake Street improvements, CenterPoint Energy is updating its infrastructure and gas meters in some locations. CenterPoint Energy staff may contact residents and businesses about potential short-term gas outages as they upgrade equipment.  For more information on CenterPoint’s work, view its project website. 

Current closure information    

• Dupont Avenue closed starting April 1 between 29th and 31st streets, including the intersection with Lake Street, for up to 8-10 weeks. Traffic is detoured to Lyndale Avenue during this time. During this closure, eastbound traffic on Lake Street is not able to turn left at Dupont.   
• Oakland Avenue will be closed at the intersection of Lake Street.
• The north (right-hand) lanes of Lagoon Avenue between Dupont Avenue and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway are currently closed, maintaining two lanes for through traffic. This weekend, traffic will be moved to the south (left-hand) lanes of Lagoon Avenue between Humboldt and Knox avenues. Traffic will remain in the north lanes of Lagoon Avenue between Hennepin and Dupont avenues.        
• The south (right-hand) land of Lake Street between East Bde Maka Ska Parkway and Dupont Avenue is currently closed, maintaining at least one lane in each direction. This portion of Lake Street may be restricted to one lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to enable more efficient completion of construction work. This lane reduction is projected to last until mid-to-late May. 
• The south side of Lake Street between Dupont and 21st avenues is currently closed, maintaining one lane in each direction for through traffic. Traffic control changes may be made near the City of Minneapolis’s 1st Avenue project. Learn more about this project here.
• In early June, traffic will be shifted to the south side of Lake Street between Dupont and Blaisdell avenues.

Bus lane installation

• This week, crews resumed painting the red bus lane on East Lake Street between 44th and 27th avenues.

Upcoming construction activities   

Lake/Lagoon and Dupont Avenue    

• This week, crews completed curb and gutter work and paving.
• The week of May 13, crews will begin underground electrical work.

Lagoon Avenue and Emerson Avenue  

• On May 3, the intersection was reopened to traffic.
• This week, crews completed underground electrical work.
• The week of May 13, crews will begin concrete work.   

Lagoon Avenue and Humboldt, Irving, James, Knox avenues  

• This week, crews completed work on the north side of the intersection.
• The week of May 13, crews will begin concrete removals and storm sewer work, as well as curb and gutter work on the south side of the intersection. 

Lagoon Avenue and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway   

• This week, crews completed temporary sidewalk work in the northern portion of the intersection.
• The week of May 20, crews are expected to begin concrete removals in the southern portion of the intersection.

Lake Street and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway   

• This week, crews completed concrete work for the sidewalk and station platform.
• The week of May 13, crews will complete site cleanup and concrete patching.
• Crews will return to finish the B Line station at the intersection later in the year.

Lake Street and Knox Avenue   

• This week, crews continued concrete work.
• The week of May 13, crews will complete concrete work.

Lake Street and James Avenue  

• The week, crews completed curb and gutter work as well as concrete patching.
• The week of May 13, concrete work is tentative to begin depending on CenterPoint Energy work being completed at this intersection.

Lake Street and Lyndale Avenue  

• Work began at this intersection the week of April 15 and includes concrete removals, storm sewer work, underground electric work, and construction of new pedestrian corners as well as a new B Line platform at the southeast corner of Lake & Lyndale.
• This week, crews completed curb and gutter work, platform pouring, and concrete patching, and began underground and station platform electrical work.
• The week of May 13, crews will continue underground and station platform electrical work

Lake Street and Pillsbury Avenue  

• This week, crews begin concrete work. 
• The week of May 13, crews will continue concrete work.

Lake Street and Portland Avenue

• Work at this intersection began the week of April 29 and includes concrete removals, storm sewer work, and installation of new pedestrian corners and a new concrete median.   
• This week, crews completed storm sewer work on the west side of Portland and curb and gutter work.
• The week of May 13, crews will begin electrical work and concrete patching.

Lake Street and Oakland Avenue

• Work at this intersection began the week of April 29
• Oakland Avenue continues to be closed at the intersection of Lake Street.
• This week, crews completed storm sewer work as well as curb and gutter work.
• The week of May 13, crews will begin electrical work and concrete patching.

Lake Street and Park Avenue

• This week, crews completed storm sewer work and began curb and gutter work.
• The week of May 13, crews will complete curb and gutter work and begin electrical work and concrete patching.
