There will be no construction update on May 3. Updates will resume on May 10. 

Construction is active along Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue in Minneapolis, with major work currently along Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue between East Bde Maka Ska Parkway and Pillsbury Avenue.      

Starting this week, the south (right-hand) lanes of Lake Street between Portland Avenue and 21st Avenue are closed, maintaining one lane in each direction for through traffic. More information on this work can be seen on project detour maps.  

This work joins construction that is already active along Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue in Minneapolis between East Bde Maka Ska Parkway and Pillsbury Avenue, which is projected to switch sides starting in late May.

Utility work    

• Crews continue to install underground fiber optic cable along the corridor.        
• Separately from the B Line and Lake Street improvements, CenterPoint Energy is updating its infrastructure and gas meters in some locations. CenterPoint Energy staff may contact residents and businesses about potential short-term gas outages as they upgrade equipment.  For more information on CenterPoint’s work, view its project website. 

Current closure information    

• Dupont Avenue closed starting April 1 between 29th and 31st streets, including the intersection with Lake Street, for up to 8-10 weeks. Traffic is detoured to Lyndale Avenue during this time. During this closure, eastbound traffic on Lake Street will not be able to turn left at Dupont.    
• The intersection closure at Emerson & Lagoon Avenue started April 22, and will be closed for 2-3 weeks. Westbound traffic on Lagoon will remain open but reduced to two lanes, or one lane as needed.   
• The closure of Knox Avenue at Lagoon Avenue and at Lake Street will end May 3.  
• Oakland Avenue will be closed at the intersection of Lake Street starting May 2.  
• The north (right-hand) lanes of Lagoon Avenue between Dupont Avenue and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway are currently closed, maintaining two lanes for through traffic. This portion of Lagoon Avenue may be restricted to one lane to shorten the time needed for construction work and closures. This lane reduction is projected to last until mid-to-late May.        
• The south (right-hand) lane of Lake Street between Pillsbury Avenue and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway is currently closed, maintaining two lanes for through-traffic. This portion of Lake Street may be restricted to one lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to enable more efficient completion of construction work. This lane reduction is projected to last until mid-to-late May.  
• The south (right-hand) lane of Lake Street between Portland Avenue and 21st Avenue is currently closed, maintaining one lane in each direction for through-traffic.  

Upcoming construction activities   

Lake/Lagoon and Dupont Avenue     

• This week, crews completed storm sewer work, and began work on curb and gutter as well as other concrete work. 
• The week of April 29, crews will continue work on curb and gutter as well as other concrete work. Crews will also begin underground electrical work.  

Lagoon Avenue and Fremont Avenue     

• This week, crews began concrete work at the intersection.      
• The week of April 29, crews will continue concrete work at the intersection. Major work at this intersection is scheduled to be complete by May 3.      

Lagoon Avenue and Emerson Avenue   

• This week, crews completed concrete removals as well as storm sewer work.  
• The week of April 29, crews will complete curb and gutter work, and concrete patching work.    

Lagoon Avenue and Humboldt Avenue    

• This week, crews began concrete work at the intersection. 
• The week of April 29, crews will continue concrete work at the intersection. Major work at this intersection is scheduled to be complete by May 3.      

Lagoon Avenue and Irving Avenue     

• This week, crews completed electrical work and began concrete work. 
• The week of April 29, crews will continue concrete work at the intersection. Major work at this intersection is scheduled to be complete by May 3.  

Lagoon Avenue and James Avenue    

• This week, crews completed electrical work and began concrete work. 
• The week of April 29, crews will continue concrete work at the intersection. Major work at this intersection is scheduled to be complete by May 3. 

Lagoon Avenue and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway    

• This week, crews completed curb and gutter work, bus pad paving, and concrete patching. 
• The week of April 29, crews will install a temporary sidewalk. Major construction work at this intersection will be complete May 3. 
• Crews will return to finish the B Line station at the intersection later in the season.  

Lake Street and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway    

• This week, crews completed underground electrical work, platform work, and concrete patching. 
• The week of April 29, crews will continue concrete work.  
• Crews will return to finish the B Line station at the intersection later in the season. 

Lake Street and Knox Avenue    

• This week, crews completed storm sewer work and curb and gutter work. 
• The week of April 29, crews will complete underground electrical work and begin concrete work.  

Lake Street and James Avenue   

• This week, crews completed concrete removals and began storm sewer work.

Lake Street and Lyndale Avenue   

• Work began at this intersection the week of April 15 and will include concrete removals, storm sewer work, underground electric work, and construction of new pedestrian corners as well as a new B Line platform at the southeast corner of Lake & Lyndale. To facilitate this work, during the day, Lake Street may be reduced to one lane each direction without a left turn lane. You may see a traffic control agent at the intersection to keep traffic moving as smoothly as possible.
