Shelter installations have begun at the Marshall & John Ireland station
Shelter installation highlights progress along east end of corridor
Installation of the first new METRO B Line shelter began last week at the intersection of John Ireland Boulevard and Marshall Avenue in Saint Paul. Additional shelters will be installed in the coming weeks. When installations are complete, these shelters will become available for use.
Other recent construction highlights include the reconstruction of 40 intersection corners and the addition of two pedestrian refuge medians.
B Line construction activities will continue through the fall, pause over the winter, and resume next spring.
On Lake Street between Hiawatha Avenue and West River Parkway:

Traffic signals will be upgraded

Lake Street will be repaved, with a 4-3 conversion of traffic lanes and the addition of a westbound bus-only lane
On Marshall Avenue between Mississippi River Boulevard and Cretin Avenue:

Traffic signals will be upgraded

ADA-accessible curb ramps will be added
-
A designated bus and bike lane will be added in the westbound direction
What’s ahead in 2024?
Next spring, construction will occur on Lake Street between Hiawatha Avenue and the METRO Green Line Extension’s West Lake Street Station.
These efforts will include station construction, reconstruction of intersection corners, traffic signal updates, new medians, and a full mill and overlay of Lake Street, with a 4-3 conversion of traffic lanes and the addition of a westbound bus lane.
