Lake Street traffic control will shift to the southern side beginning Monday, Aug 7.
Update: There will be no construction update or Thursday office hours next week, the week of Aug 7. Construction activities will continue.
Minneapolis- Lake Street Construction Shifts Aug 7
Complete:
By August 7, crews will complete all major work on the north side of Lake Street from Minnehaha Avenue to West River Parkway.
- Installation of shelters, pylons, and other station features will begin this fall.
Upcoming:
Construction activities are expected to shift to the southern side of Lake Street the week of August 7.
Crews will close one lane of traffic on the southern side of Lake Street and re-open the currently closed lane on the northern side. To make this shift of open lanes and active construction area, crews will work the evening of Sunday, August 6, beginning at 10 p.m. into early in the morning on Monday, Aug 7 .
This work may continue the evening of Aug 7 into the morning of Tuesday, Aug 8. Noise and lights can be expected overnight on Lake Street during this lane shift.
Two-way traffic is being maintained along Lake Street with lane and parking restrictions in place.
Work will start at Lake Street & Minnehaha Avenue and travel west to east, ending at Lake Street & West River Parkway. Crews will be reconstructing sidewalk and pedestrian corners at:

This fall, construction will include a mill and overlay as well as lane restriping. Sidewalks will remain open on at least one side of the street and pedestrian access will be maintained to homes and businesses.

Construction at station locations includes partial street reconstruction, new station platforms, new street, new sidewalk, new traffic signals, and new pedestrian ramps.
Construction at non-station intersections includes curb ramp work, new sidewalk, roadway improvements, and signal improvements.

Construction will include partial street reconstruction, new signal, new station platforms, new street, new sidewalk, new pedestrian ramps.
The intersection will be open to four-way traffic, with traffic lane restrictions along Marshall Avenue. Work began on the northwest corner of the intersection the week of July 24, and will take approximately five weeks, before work moves to the south side of the intersection.

Route 21 buses are detoured off Selby Avenue onto Marshall Avenue between Hamline Avenue and John Ireland Boulevard.

Stops are closed at many intersections along the corridor. Please use either of the nearest stops to the east or west of these intersections

Metro Transit Outreach staff will be available at two locations weekly on Thursdays for walk-in conversations and to answer questions about construction.
