Gold Line construction underway

Crews continue bridge work and site preparations near Etna Street. In Woodbury, crews install storm sewers and prepare for sheeting and pile driving for the Bielenberg Drive bridge.

East St. Paul/Maplewood highlights

Ongoing:

• Expect crews to continue bridge work, preparing the bridge abutment near the Etna Street Station site over the next few weeks.
• Structural bridge work continues at the Etna Street Station site as crews conduct pile driving, pour concrete foundations, and assemble bridge walls. Crews finish removing brush, trees, and topsoil along Hudson Road from Kellogg Boulevard to Johnson Parkway.
• Crews begin treatment and processing of contaminated soils near the intersection of Griffith Street and Wakefield Avenue.

Traffic Impacts:

• Continued traffic shifts to temporary ramp areas at I-94 and Etna Street (as shown on map above).
• Utility construction on Earl Street. Expect inside and outside shoulder closures on eastbound and westbound I-94 near Earl Street. The southbound side of Earl Street between Wakefield Avenue and Hudson Road is closed with two-way traffic maintained on the northbound side. Pacific Street is closed east of Earl Street, follow the posted detour.

Oakdale/Landfall/Woodbury highlights

Ongoing: Starting Nov. 4, crews will be driving piles in the I-94 center median near Bielenberg Drive, then pouring concrete foundations, and installing a crash wall. Construction continues with site preparations, excavations, building up earth for the future BRT roadway, bridge abutments, and private utility work near the I-94/I-494/I-694 interchange area. Expect storm sewer installations on the north side of I-94 between Hudson Road, Helmo Street, and 4th Street. Crews continue work on the east side of Bielenberg Drive with pond construction, excavations, and bridge work. Xcel Energy continues utility pole relocations along Bielenberg Drive north of Tamarack Road

Traffic Impacts:

• The northbound shoulder closure on Bielenberg Drive from Tamarack Road to Hudson Road will no longer be in effect on November 5.
• Expect median shoulder closures on eastbound and westbound I-94 between the I-494/I-694 interchange and Radio Drive into winter 2023. Intermittent inside lane closures are anticipated with this work during off-peak hours.
• Xcel Energy utility work continues on the west side of Century Avenue. One traffic lane is closed on southbound Century Avenue and on the eastbound I-94 off-ramp to Century Avenue.

Upcoming:

• Crews will begin foundation excavations as part of bridge construction work, continue storm sewer installations, and excavate pond areas on the north side of I-94 between Hudson Road, Helmo Street, and 4th Street.
