Chicago-Lake Transit Center

Construction includes station platforms, new sidewalk, new pedestrian signals, utility work, new street pavement, street reconstruction, new pedestrian ramps, signals, and sidewalks. Also included will be a realignment of the bus-only lane from the center of Chicago Ave. to the curbside lane.

Portland Ave. Stations ( 66th St., 70th St., 73rd St., 77th St.)

Construction includes station platforms, a new bike/pedestrian path, new pedestrian ramps, partial driveway reconstruction, street pavement, and utility work. Work at 66th St. will be coordinated with Hennepin County construction happening in the area.

Intersections partially closed the week of May 27, with lane restrictions in place for 4-5 months.

This week, crews completed work on concrete station areas. This work will continue into next week alongside landscaping work.
American Blvd. stations (Chicago, Bloomington, & Thunderbird)

This week, crews began work on concrete removals, fiber work, and grading. Next week, crews will continue grading work along with water work and curb and gutter work.
Major construction has been completed at the following stations:
Fremont & Plymouth: There are no restrictions in place at Fremont, work on the Emerson & Plymouth platform at this stop begins the week of July 12.
7th St. & Bryant: Temporary lane closures are still in place.
Chicago & 14th St. Four-way stops are still in place.
Chicago & Franklin: Temporary signals are still in place.
Chicago & 34th St. Four-way stops are still in place.
Route 5 detours, bus stop closures continue:
All Route 5 service is detoured off Chicago between downtown Minneapolis and 42nd Ave.
Southbound buses will travel on Chicago to 9th St., right on 9th St., left on Portland, left on 42nd St., right on Chicago and resume regular route.
Northbound buses will travel on Chicago to 42nd St., left on 42nd St., right on Park, right on 8th St., left on Chicago, left on 7th St. and resume regular route.
